I Am a Storyteller.

Introduction

I believe that there is an art to telling the perfect story.

My work spans advertising agency copywriting by day, and, by night, vivid mixed-media paintings, writing (ranging from pointed satire to deeply personal memoir), and performance-based comedy (both solo in the form of stand-up comedy and team-based in the form of my beloved college sketch comedy troupe). The through-line across my work has always been my desire to tell stories that mean something. A story told well not only relies on a keen understanding of audience and narrative but also the ability to step inside a world that may not be familiar to one’s self or one’s own. And, though I cultivate my wide range of creative work with drive and dedicated passion, in truth, these pieces are nothing more than different mediums from which to articulate a well-told story.

At the heart of all my work is storytelling and this is the kind of career —and life— I continuously seek to create and live, over and over again.

A Note on my Work

This is my personal portfolio of creative work.

I also have a copywriting portfolio showcasing advertising work which is available upon request. The following work has been carefully selected to highlight my artistic range and depth. When asked what my brand is, I often like to say that I am a multi-colored, multi-talented chameleon. However, this certainly doesn't mean that I lack specificity, direction, or voice. There is, of course, never just one story to tell.

Visual Art

I’ve been making art since I was little: tiny drawings of wasp-waisted women that became collectors items amongst my mom’s friends, Barbie clothes from bits of fabric and paper out of the recycling bin, doodles on math notebooks in middle school, and, as I got older, more serious paintings and series on paper and on canvas. The following thousand-or-so paintings are from a body of work I’ve built in the past few years. I have created an illustration or painting every single day, without fail, since I was a senior in high school. To this very day, if I miss a day, I make it up the next day with two pieces of art. These are just a handful, really.

Satire & Humor Writing

I am a contributing satire writer for Little Old Lady Comedy, Points In Case, The Weekly Humorist, The Belladonna, The Women in Comedy Festival Daily, and others.

I’ve written over 50 published articles.

One of my pieces was read by comedian Allison Reese on The Belladonna’s podcast The Antidote and you can listen to that at the one hour mark HERE.

I’ve included hyperlinks to several of my author pages which have archives of published pieces below.

Stand-Up Comedy

I’ve been performing stand-up consistently since I was 16-years old. I’ve been lucky enough to perform alongside comedians including Kate Willet (Netflix), Martin Urbano (Jimmy Kimmel, Just For Laughs), and Kelsey Caine (Chris Gethard Presents). In addition to performing on campus, I’m a regular performer in the Philly, New York, and Boston stand-up scenes. Across these cities, I’ve performed at:

  • Boston:

    • The Riot Theater

    • ImprovBoston (Stand-Up Jam, The People’s Show, Queer Qomedy Hour, and the Stand Up Throw Down tournament where I was a semi-finalist)

  • Philly:

    • Laughs on Philly at MilkBoy South

    • Good Hang at Moonshine

    • Next Slide Please at Philly Improv Theater (PHIT)

    • For two years I ran a showcase every Saturday night in Fishtown called Snappy Pun Comedy.

    • I also host the Whacked Out open mic at Paddy Whack’s Pub every Tuesday night.

  • New York City:

    • Guaranteed Delivery at The Mailroom

    • Tinderella at The people’s Improv Theater (PIT)

Spoon-Fed Sketch Comedy

At Bryn Mawr College, I've developed and lead a sketch comedy troupe, Spoon-Fed. Through this, I’m able to write, produce, act in, and direct multiple sketch comedy shows each year. Our first show was in April 2018, receiving praise from the student body and overflowing our theater space (we gladly dragged in more chairs!). We do a show per semester from start to finish— this means writing and conception to all the way to directing, acting, and producing. Our shows are entirely student-run and produced.

You can watch videos I wrote and produced for our troupe HERE, HERE, HERE, and HERE. We also have a YouTube channel HERE.

Writing

When I was 20 and a junior at Bryn Mawr College, I wrote, illustrated, and self published a children’s book, The Secret-Life of a Part-Time Fish. Most of this process took place while sitting cross-legged on my twin-sized dorm bed.

I’m also currently working on a longer-form adult fiction book titled Blood as well as a collection of non-fiction essays and paintings about my experience living with obsessive-compulsive disorder.

You can read a preview of —and purchase— The Secret Life of a Part Time Fish HERE.

I believe that there is an art to telling the perfect story. My goal is to tell those stories.

Let’s get to work, together.
